Hello internet!
Recently I’ve been doing a lot to change my attitude towards work and have honestly become more productive lately than previous months. I’ve been suffering from the occassional headache for the past two years now. Some of them very painful. After worrying about it for that long I suspected everything I could until I finally came across some articles on CVS(Computer Vision Syndrome). It sounded like me to a tee. Then I thought about what causes CVS, and how it’s typically to blame on the unatural lighting and flicker rates produced by LCD monitors and prolonged use. Then I thought about what has changed in the past two years and it dawned on me, CFL lightbulbs produce very similar conditions and really do take a toll on some peoples vision over time. I was surrounding myself in CFLs and as soon as I switched them all back I began to feel better.
Now, what brought me to this article on CVS was some digital optics specifically designed to help people suffering from CVS called Gunnar Optiks. These glasses have various features to them that are supposed to enhance readability of LCD’s as well as reduce eyestrain caused by them. Sounded good to me, I ordered a pair and will be reviewing them soon. Maybe even a video review since my little HD camera has stolen my heart. I still need to review it.
On the topic of videos… I received my first invitation from Youtube to earn revenue from ads that they would like to place in my videos. Score! I’ve been wanting to produce more videos anyways, here is my encouragement. Speaking of which, in my last post I provided help to people with the Volvo: What Drives Edward – New Moon contest/competition. My help felt like a huge success. That matched with some currently live(but not advertised) sites I’ve been working on and traffic coming in from youtube and reviews I’ve placed on other sites… I’ve had TRAFFIC. I always have SOME traffic, but this weekend was way beyond, bringing me 32,256 unique visitors across all of my sites combined. That’s a ton by my standards!
The most exciting thing about receiving all of that traffic this past week/weekend is that now I have lots of recorded analytics data to play with. Expect an extended and VERY IMPORTANT entry or two about web trends, system and screen resolution use in the next week. I’m also adventuring off into some PPC campaigns this week so expect a nice write up on how that goes along with some valuable data about what it ACTUALLY costs you to jump on board a “free starting credit” offer from Google, yahoo, Ask, and Bing. I’m also going to show you how I track that information.
A special thanks to everyone who has visited and commented on any of my blog entries. It makes me unbelievably happy to discover that people are reading what I write. Thank you very much.
Check back in a few days, there’s a lot I’ve got to write about!
