I was unaware of Word having this option, quite neat. Maybe I’ll add to this entry later with more information as I’m familiarized with this posting process.

CGI: two meanings, let’s change it!

I’m sure you all have heard the acronyms “C.G.I.” thrown about in one context or another. It stands for several things, but generally only two come to mind: Common Gateway Interface & Computer Generated Imagery. CGI to me always seems to represent Common Gateway Interface, mainly because in web development you encounter the letters CGI way more often than you would working with computer graphics packages. For instance, your cgi-bin directory at the base of most web servers. I’m not going to delve into the many definitions CGI can have or talk about which definition is more deserving of these three letters. No, I’m simply going to state that CGI should from now on only represent Common Gateway Interface and Computer Generated Imagery should be changed to Computer Generated Visuals.

Help me push the renaming to CGV and we will never have to hear “whoa sweet CGI” at the movie theaters again.

Computer Generated Imagery (soon to be CGV with any luck)

Police have my street blocked off… again.

The other day I decided to go for a jog, which happens pretty often. Around the back of our property I noticed a blue grocery back in one of the irrigation valves that was so full it looked swollen. I didn’t want to touch it because likely it was full of animal parts- or worse, human ones. I wouldn’t put anything past the sick people that come out here. Well our neighbor (who always takes care of irrigation) picked the bag up out of the irrigation valve and put it out by the side of the road along with the rest of the trash these people dump out here. So this morning I wake up to notice that police have my street blocked off again and police somehow think the blue bag at the end of the street contains a bomb. They maneuver a small robot into proximity that they use to shoot the bag a couple of times. No boom, no bomb. So they get closer and oh, the bag is full of AK47 ammo and a little crystal meth. Just as pleasant. Will these people ever start respecting our property? Doubtful.
